DISASTER RELIEF
Hurricane Harvey has left the Gulf Coast devastated. Below you can find some ways to help those who have been affected by this catastrophic storm rebuild their lives.

Step 1: PRAY for emergency workers, rescuers, leaders, victims, and volunteers. Click here to see a prayer from our bishop Scott J. Jones

Step 2: DONATE money either directly to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) or make a check out to DeKalb First United Methodist Church, marked Disaster Relief in the memo line. 100% of all funds received will go toward disaster relief along the Gulf Coast. Also, you can donate directly to the Texas Annual Conference via text, in app, or online. Click here for instructions.

Step 3: CONSTRUCT a flood bucket or hygiene kit to be used directly by families and recovery workers to clean out homes. Directions on how to assemble a flood bucket can be found by clicking here. For hygiene kits click here.

Step 4: VOLUNTEER your time by partnering with a response team to be deployed to the Gulf Coast. Untrained volunteers will be paired with trained responders. If you would like to volunteer as a responder please print and fill out the Volunteer Registration Form and the Participant Liability Form and return to the church office.
